Gigatone Entertainment is a next-generation entertainment company focused on music and video productions. With offices in Sacramento and Hollywood, it management team consists of seasoned music, digital entertainment, and technology professionals with over 120 years of media, entertainment, and technology experience and successful track records and experience in music production, distribution, marketing, and sales.
Management Team:
Mitchell Koulouris, Founder and CEO, is a successful entrepreneur and has extensive startup, management, media, and digital entertainment experience. Mitchell is a respected music industry professional and serves on the Board of Governors for the Grammys (The Recording Academy) San Francisco Chapter. Mitchell was founder and CEO of Digital Music Group, Inc. the world's leading aggregator of digital entertainment assets. A respected figure in the digital entertainment industry, Koulouris led his company from startup to IPO in just two years. He was personally responsible for quickly growing its asset base to over 1.4 million tracks of music and 5,000 hours of video content, ultimately merging his company with The Orchard in late 2007. He was also Founder and CEO of Informant Communications Group, a leading magazine publisher of high-end software development journals primarily working with Microsoft and Borland Software Corporation. Over his career in media and entertainment, Mr. Koulouris has successfully completed a number of capital raises including a $38 million IPO of Digital Music Group in February 2006.
Kevin Plouse, Co-founder and Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, has a 25 year history in the hi-tech semiconductor industry. His background includes executive positions within engineering, product development. operations, marketing and business development. In his 19 years with Advanced Micro devices (AMD) he also assumed the role of leader of the world’s largest product development team for memories through a joint venture with Fujitsu (FASL). This JV turned into the most profitable one of its kind in the world. He went on to have similar roles as the head of marketing and business development at two other public companies, Sipex and Leadis to create their corporate strategies. He has also co-founded two other companies.
Len Fico, Co-founder, Senior Vice President and General Manager, is a well-respected 30-year veteran of the music industry as a A&R executive with EMI America Records in the mid-1980's and later as Vice President of A&R with Island Records in 1991. While with Island, Len worked with legendary industry veterans Denny Cordell and Chris Blackwell as well as with successful artists such as U2, the Cranberries, Melissa Etheridge, and Stereo MCs, all of which racked up gold or platinum albums. A respected music man and entrepreneur in his own right, Len was Founder and President of Fuel Records, a leading compilation and reissue label based in Hollywood. During his tenure with Fuel, Len has worked with legendary artists such as Jethro Tull, Janis Ian, Rita Coolidge, Julian Lennon, and Ian Hunter to name a few.
Jeff Tamelier, Co-founder and Vice President of A&R, is a highly successful musician and record producer. As a musician, Jeff was guitarist for such legendary Bay Area groups as Tower of Power and Starship. He has played with many of the Bay Areas biggest aritsts including Huey Lewis, Eddie Money, Journey, and others. He is President of Track Shack Studios in Sacramento, California.
Advisory Board:
Marvin Katz. Mr. Katz is presently in the practice of law as a founder/partner in the Law Offices of Marvin Katz, a New York based law firm in the multi-media entertainment field with emphasis in the music industry. Previously, Mr. Katz was a Senior/Managing Partner in Mayer, Katz, Baker, Leibowitz & Roberts, an internationally recognized law firm with emphasis in the entertainment and music industries representing a number of corporate clients, including the Warner Music Group, the Elektra Entertainment Group, Atlantic Recording Corporation and Warner Music International as well as music industry senior executives, record and film producers, recording artists, performers, songwriters and music publishers.
Anders Brown. Mr. Brown is currently President and Chairman of Akona Systems, Inc. From September 2005 to March 2007, Mr. Brown served as the Chief Operating Officer of Digital Music Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: DMGI) and from October 2004 to September 2005 served as the Chief Operating Officer of Digital Musicworks International which was acquired by Digital Music Group. In these roles Mr. Brown helped drive growth of the business as well as helped lead both a private equity financing and a $38 million IPO in February 2006. Mr Brown is an expert on the digital entertainment market and has a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington. From 1997-2004 Mr. Brown was at Microsoft Corporation in a variety of product management, business strategy, and planning roles, most recently in the Information Worker Business Unit driving the planning and execution of growth initiatives for the Microsoft Office business.
Steve Cohen. Steve is Financial and Chief Information Officer with the A.G. Spanos Companies of Stockton, California. The A.G. Spanos Companies are among the largest commercial and residential real estate development companies in the United States, having developed over 120,000 apartments and 2 million square feet of office space in over 400 developments. A.G. Spanos (who is also the owner of the San Diego Chargers football team) was a significant investor in Digital Music Group, the previous startup of Gigatone CEO Mitchell Koulouris. Steve is a Certified Public Accountant, and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Accounting from California State University in Sacramento. Steve brings significant business and financial acumen to the Gigatone team.
